IMAGES OF THE SOUTHWEST - Beautiful gallery catalog from Kramer Gallery & Studio in St. Paul, MN. The catalog measures 8.5” x 11” in the landscaped format. It contains 36 very high quality reproductions of images made by noted photographer Roland Reed. Reed spent 25 years and considerable money capturing on film Indians of the Western United States in their home areas, at their daily routines and rituals. Trading posts, cliff dwellings, villages, river crossings, pottery making, rug weaving, portraits, and horses are a few of the subjects included. Reed was an artist behind his camera.

Contains 72 high-quality reproductions in the same quality and format as the above catalog. “Woman with Travois,” “Prayer to the Thunderbird,” “Pow Wow,” and “Leaving Camp” are a few of the titles in this volume. Same 8.5”x11” format as above.

These catalogs are printed on high quality stock and are an excellent, affordable way to view hard copy images made by the talented Roland Reed. In 1999 the cost of a 16x20 print of ONE image from these catalogs had risen to $600.


Original, subscriber’s copy of the magazine, American History Illustrated, January/February 1992 edition. Contains the ten-page article, “The First Americans,’ Table of Contents describes the article as follows: “A trove of copyright photographs preserved in the Library of Congress not only reveals fascinating glimpses of Native Americans and their tribal cultures but also sheds light on how our European-American forebears perceived that native heritage.”
The portfolio in this article was compiled by Owen Andrews with captions by William H. Goetzman. Contains photos by Roland Reed as well as noted photographer Edward S. Curtis, Frederick Monsen, Benjamin Gifford and others.
